Who it is designed for?
This insurance is designed for foreign citizens who reside for a short or for a long period of time in the Republic of Bulgaria or pass through the country in transit. The insurance is compulsory for persons residing for a short or for a long period of time in the Republic of Bulgaria or pass through the country in transit and have no health care insurance concluded abroad or a medical insurance, valid for the territory of the Republic of Bulgaria.
Insurance coverage:
The following expenses are covered by the scope of the insurance liability of this insurance:
• Expenses for outpatient treatment and hospital stay;
• Expenses for transportation;
• Expenses for emergency dental treatment.
Minimum insurance amount:
The minimum insurance amount, in accordance with Art. 12 of the Ordinance for general terms and conditions, a minimum insurance amount, a minimum insurance premium and the procedure for concluding the mandatory medical insurance of foreigners that reside for a short or for a long period of time in the Republic of Bulgaria, or pass through the country in transit, is 30.000 EUR / 60.000 BGN.
Duration of insurance:
For foreigners, who reside in the Republic of Bulgaria for a short period of time or pass through the country in transit, the compulsory medical insurance cannot be concluded for a period longer than ninety (90) days. For foreigners, who reside continuously in the Republic of Bulgaria, including for visa D for a long-stay, the compulsory medical insurance cannot be concluded for a period longer than one (1) year.
Insurance premium:
The insurance premium is determined by the rates of insurance companies depending on the length of stay in the country and varies from 160 BGN to 300 BGN. Depending on the age it can be increased.
