Who concludes it?
THE “CARRIER LIABILITY” INSURANCE can be concluded by a company conducting internal or international carriage of loads by road. In this case the carrier is liable as per the convention on the international carriage of goods by road.
What does the insurance cover?
THIS INSURANCE COVERS THE CARRIER’S LIABILITY in case of damage, destruction or loss of the load carried, during the time of carriage, using personal and/or rented vehicles. The term “vehicle” means trucks, semi-trailer trucks, trailers and semi-trailers.
IN ADDITION, additional expenses coverage may also be negotiated with the insurer for:Damage caused to containers and container equipment as a result of a road accident, fire or natural disasters;A higher liability limit, other than 8.33 SDR.
SOME INSURERS cover expenses for:The performance of reviews by survey commissaries and the issuing of relevant documents;Preservation of the load, including storage up to 48 hours, as a result of a road accident.
What is the insurance compensation?
THE INSURANCE COMPENSATION FOR DAMAGES CAUSE TO GOODS amounts to their actual value as per the commercial invoice, but not more than 8.33 SDR (special drawing rights) per kilogram of missing gross weight or about 10 EUR per kilogram, as per the Leva’s equivalence according to the rate of the Bulgarian National Bank’s at the date of the insurance event.
Where does the insurance apply?
Within the territory of Bulgaria as per the Road Transport Act, except for dangerous loads determined as class 1a, 1b, 1c and 7 as per the Convention for international carriage of dangerous goods by road (ADR);Abroad, according to the Convention on the contract for the international carriage of goods by road (CMR).
What is the insurance period?
THE INSURANCE MAY BE CONCLUDED for a period of one calendar year, for a part of the year or for a separate period.
